Karie
Born
in 1961 in Escondido, California, Karie is a true So Cal native
in every sense. He has spent countless seasons as a young
man riding in the local deserts such as, Ocotillo Wells, Glamis,
Superstitions, and High deserts like Johnson Valley and Jawbone,
just to name a few. He started riding and exploring Baja in
the early 80’s and has continued ever since.
Starting out in the late 60’s with a Taco mini bike to his
present ride, a KTM 525, Karie has ridden almost everything
in between. He built a sand rail with his father as a teen
in the 70’s giving him valuable mechanical knowledge. These
days he powers through the deserts in a pre-runner style Funco
off road car.
His resume includes racing in local district events, Mag 7
pit crewmember for several years for the Baja 500/1000 and
course pre-running of the Baja 500/1000 for race support.
With these many years of riding experience, Karie takes personal
pride in serving customers and providing a memorable, exciting
Baja ride.
Rob
A true Californian, Rob began riding in the undeveloped areas
of Southern Cal. on a friend’s Honda Trail 90. It didn’t take
long before his first motorcycle, a Yamaha 250DT1, became
a big part of his life.
In the early 70’s, Rob started racing locally at places like
Carlsbad Raceway and District 38 desert events.
His real motorcycle adventures began in 1975 when he and two
friends crossed the line into Baja with only a backpack, a
Triple A map, and lots of gas. For thirteen years he explored
the Baja Peninsula. In 1988 he decided to take his riding
to the next level and race the Score Baja 1000 on a Honda
XR600. That experience was all he needed to compete in other
races such as the San Felipe 250, Baja 500 and Baja 1000 numerous
times and even co-drive for the grueling Baja 2000.
Rob currently rides a KTM 525 and his passion is to provide
his customers of Outback Baja nothing less than “The Ultimate
Off-road Motorcycle Experience”.
Ken
Everybody
knows “Kug”. It doesn’t matter where you
ride or who you ride with, there’s always somebody around
who knows Ken Kugel.
After his younger days of motorcycle woods
riding in the upper Midwest, Ken moved to Escondido 23 years
ago. One of his first rides in the Southwest was to Baja California,
and he’s been hooked ever since. “I can still
point out where we had lunch and the spot looks the very same
to this day”.
Ken has been a pit crewmember, chase driver,
and provided race support for teams such as Mag 7 and other
privateers. In 1989 Kug raced the Score Baja 1000 to La Paz
and since then he has raced many Tecate enduros. In his spare
time, you can find him with a box full of maps of the Western
U.S. and Mexico in search of the most remote roads. He hops
on either his KTM 450 or 950 Adventure to go scope them out.
One thing for sure, you won’t get lost with “The
Kug”.
